Ledges State Park

Saturday we decided to drive up to Ledges State Park and hike around for awhile.  It was great to get out and enjoy the nice cool weather and spend time as a family.  The kids really enjoyed it. Austin loved it and said he wants "this" (lots of places to explore) in his new house.

Blank Park Zoo

Today the kids were out of school for Labor Day, the weather has finally cooled down (it's been so hot the school has been having indoor recess) and they had free zoo passes from the library for reading this summer so I took them to the zoo (Jason had to work).
They were so excited to go and so good the whole time we were there.  It has changed quite a bit since we started going there 7 years ago...for the better!

Children

"Treat your children a sons and daughters of God. Be kind. Love them. Respect them. Counsel with them. Teach them. Pray for them. Guide them and God will bless both them and you."

extra tooth

Madi had an extra tooth that came in when she was a baby.  At first I thought the tooth was just growing in crooked but the dentist told me later that it was an extra tooth.  It eventually fussed together with her front tooth and they have been a part of her smile ever since.

Well the teeth started to get loose a few weeks ago but I didn't want her to be toothless in her 1st day of school pictures so we waited until yesterday to pull it out. It took a little while and a few tears but we got it them.  The tooth fairy came that night and gave her extra for her special teeth.

1st Day of School

If I think about it too much it makes me cry.
I can't believe how fast kids grow, it seems as though as soon as they start kindergarten they grow double time.  It seems like yesterday Savannah was just starting kindergarten and she's already in 3rd grade.  Madi's in 1st grade and I just look and her and can believe it, she seems so grown up.  Olivia started kindergarten and is loving every minute, she said she didn't even miss me...but I did get two big hugs when I picked her up today.

They all had a great day!  Savannah's favorite part was getting a new planner from her teacher and Madi and Olivia's favorite part was lunch. Madi and Olivia also had a fun time together at lunch recess, Madi said Olivia was chasing her around the whole time.  And when I picked Olivia up her teacher said she did great and smiled all day. :)

It should be great year!
and yes it's just me and Austin together at home all day.

One last family activity before school starts

The kids got tickets to the Iowa Cubs baseball game from the library for finishing the reading program so we went there yesterday.  School starts on Thursday so it was our last summer activity.  I have to admit summer went by really fast for our family.

I took the kids when it started and Jason meet us there later after his Journal Club meeting.

We left after the 7th inning stretch since Jason had to work early the next morning and we already had one asleep.
