Visit to Aberdeen
We decided to take a little trip up the road (7 hours) to show the kids the new town they will be living in come July. We had a good time swimming at the hotel pool and looking for new homes. We will come back again on an official house hunting trip but this was just a fun little get away.

Happy 37th!
When I was a teenager I don't think I ever though about my life after my 20's. I just thought I would graduate from college, get married and have kids and hoped to be a stay at home mom and raise my kids in the gospel. That was as far as I got. I never thought about getting older or my babies getting older but it is happening... and fast.
I guess the positive thing about not thinking about my life beyond my 20's is that I have no preconceived notions about what it should be like. I have reached all my goals: I have my loving husband, I graduated from college, I have 4 wonderful kids, I have my dream job of being of stay at home mom and we are raising our kids in the gospel, beyond that everything is frosting on the cake.
I love my life and very grateful for all the people in it. I have been very blessed!
So here is to another great year!

ISU Gymnastics Meet
For Leila Dunlavy's birthday party she invited a bunch of girls to go to the Iowa State University Gymnastics Meet. Alisha needed help driving the girls and I owed her big time for all the help she had been giving us so I drove half the girls up to Ames and we watched the meet. It was so much fun! The girls had great time watching the college girls perform. Afterward they got posters autographed and pictures taken.

interviews
From October 2014 - January 2015 Jason and I went on 7 job interviews. Thanks to help from family and Alisha Dunlavy we were able to go together on all of them.
October -The 1st interview was in the Quad Cities (Iowa/Illinois). We just drove there for the day. It was a big place with 3 hospitals, but we would get to stay in Iowa. They were very busy and needed help. (Alisha made sure Austin got to school and that the girls got home ok. Savannah watched them until we got home.)
Can't remember when but we interviewed in Fort Madison, Iowa. It is a small town that sits on the Mississippi river across from Nauvoo. It was beautiful. I really wanted to go there but the town was very very small. They had two very nice surgeons who would have been great for Jason to work with.
Mid November -The 2nd interview was in Roosevelt, Utah. The hospital we where interview at knew we were from Utah so they flew the whole family out for the weekend. We left our kids with grandparents for 2 days while Jason and I drove to Roosevelt and interview there. It was a nice town just had to drive to do any shopping.
End of November- December 2nd- 3rd interview in Sterling, Colorado. Kathy and Russ stayed a few days extra to watch the kids since they were already there for Madi's baptism. Then Alisha finished watching them the last day since our flights over lapped. Alisha even made Olivia cupcakes since we couldn't be there until the night of Olivia's birthday. And the Foster's were nice enough to take Savannah to the school concert she was in that night, that we also missed by a few hours. (Like I said we couldn't have done this without family and friends.) Sterling was a nice place and it was close to Utah so we liked it.
December 21-23rd the 4th interview was in Aberdeen, South Dakota. Really liked this place. It wasn't really, really small town. It had just want we needed right in town. It was a nice hospital. Alisha again watched our kids even though it was so close to Christmas.
We thought we were done after this. We had offers from all of them and told them we would have our decision the first of the new year. But them Jason got a call from Black Foot, Idaho. Since it was close to family we went. Again I asked Alisha to watch our kids and she of course did. (I owe her big time!) I knew it wasn't the place even before we left, I already knew where I wanted to go. We went though and it was nice, great people just like every where else it just felt weird with the partner Jason would have been working with. But the location was great, close to family.
Jason really wanted to Sterling, CO to work out so on our way back to Des Moines from Idaho he took a detour and had a second look at the hospital and area in Sterling while I flew home to be with the kids. We are very glad he did this because he got to talk to the other surgeon and because of that our prayers about Sterling where answered. We were not going there. They were going to be too slow and Jason would be very bored.
Shortly after the Idaho/Colorado trip. We got a phone call from Jason's original dream job, the hospital and partner he wanted to work with ever since he rotated there during his 1st rotation, his 3rd year of Med School. He had be calling and texting Dr. Morgan in Pella, Iowa before and during all these interview to see if they were going to hire anyone. We'll 4 months later they decided they were going to hire a new surgeon and asked if Jason was still interested. So of course we went even though we really knew we weren't going to end up going there, but in reality we didn't want any regrets or what if's. It was an hour drive so we left in the morning and just came back the same day. We knew it wasn't for us for a few reasons even though staying in Iowa was a big pro.
It was a crazy time. I am glad I got to go on all the interview and see all these great places. It made the decision one we made together and was a great experience for us as a couple.
We got job offers from all these great places which made the decision very hard to make. We liked all of them. They all had their pros and cons, but after much fasting and prayer and discussion. We slowly narrowed it down and were lead to where we know we are supposed to be...___________________________(add when doing blog book)
