Happy Easter!

Easter Activities

Saturday, April 19, some friends from the ward organized an Easter Egg hunt/breakfast at the park. We brought a breakfast item and 12 eggs for each of your children.  Then after breakfast the kids went and found 12 eggs a piece.  It was a little windy and chilly but the kids didn't mind.  Everyone's favorite eggs were the ones the Gardunia's brought that had seashells in them.

don't worry Savannah go new capris for Easter

and later that day we colored eggs.

turns out they were soft boiled eggs instead of hard boiled.  The kids were very disappointed so I had to make more after church on today.

Sunday before church the kids found their baskets and the eggs inside.  We went to church at 9am then came home to find the eggs out in the back yard.  Jason had to work all day and missed the whole thing.

Madi's and my secret

Madi and I have been keeping a secret and by the time one of my kids reads this hopefully they won't care any more.  I have been volunteering in Madilynn's class every Friday for 6 months.  Alisha and I decided to trade watching each others kids.  She would bring her boys over from 8:30- 9:30am while she helped in her 1st graders classroom and then Austin would go with her from 10-11am while I helped with reading in Madilynn's classroom.  It has been really fun to get to know the kids and see Madilynn in her classroom setting.

I wish I could have helped in Olivia's classroom too but with Austin still at home it's hard.  Hopefully next year when he is in preschool I will find time to spend in everyone's classroom.  The reason we had to keep it a secret was so that every Friday I wouldn't have extra drama added to what already existed every morning.  But her teacher doesn't need help anymore, she is doing other things to wind down the rest of the year (5 weeks left) so I guess we can let our secret out.

3rd grade field trip

I got to go to the Science Center with Savannah's 3rd grade class today for their field trip (and all the other 3rd grade classes at the school).  They already went to the Nutcracker at Christmas time but they didn't let parents go.  Thanks to Alisha who watched Austin all day for me I was able to go and spend time with Savannah since I have never been on one of her field trips.

It was a fun day.  We rode the bus and then I just had 3 girls to watch after as we went around and played all day, had lunch, played more, went to a cold blooded animal show and came back to the school.  They even got to be on the Noon hour weather for Channel 8.

grandma and grandpa's visit

Grandpa and grandma Jensen flew in April 10th-April 15th.  We had a great time with them.  Thanks grandpa and grandma for taking time to come visit us, we enjoyed every minute.

Jason had Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday off so he could spend some time with them too.

Thursday: Jason, Austin and I picked them up and then went straight to Costco.  We had a few things to get and thought it would be easier with one kid.  The girls walked home from school and were waiting out front when we got home.  That night the girls had dance and got their costumes so lucky for grandma she got to come with us and see them dance all dressed up.  Later that night the adults watched the video they played at grandma's funeral

Friday:  Grandma told the kids she would take them shopping so we went back out to West Des Moines and spent the day there, we started by feeding the fish.  It was such a nice day!  Then that night Jason and I went out to eat and to a movie (Captain America), while grandpa and grandma took the kids out to McDonald's play land.

(the reason I took this picture is because I have a picture of Madi doing this same thing the 1st time we came to the Science Center 2008 and then the 2nd time in 2009)

Saturday:  We went to an Easter Egg Hunt in the morning.  The Science Center in the afternoon, Smoky Dee's for lunch/dinner and then bowling in the early evening.  It was a beautiful day around 80 degrees so when we got home they played outside for a bit until bed time.

Sunday:  We went to church in the morning and then hung out inside and played games since it had snowed and was very cold.

Monday:  Jason went back to work.  The rest of us went to the new Muppet Movie.  On our way home we stopped at the hospital to see Jason. That night we all went out for dinner and ice cream.

Tuesday:  I made the kids go back to school since grandpa and grandma were leaving around 12:45pm anyway and they had already missed two days of school.  It was sad to see them say good-bye again and there are always tears but we had a fun time and made a lot of good memories.

pillow fight

Amy, Evan, Cam, Annie and Missy, (my aunt, uncle and 3 cousins) were driving home to Utah from South Bend, IN after visiting my cousin (their daughter, Aubrey) who just had her second baby.  They needed a place to sleep so they asked if they could spend the night.  They arrived at 9:45pm so my kids were already asleep but the next morning they were excited when I let them go to school an hour late so they could see Annie and Missy (14 years old) and finally meet Cam (18 years old).  They had a big pillow fight before the girls had to go to school, Alisha took them on her way to volunteer.  Then they packed up and got on the road again.  It was fun to see them again, we are glad they stopped even if it was just for 12 hours.
