grandma and grandpa babysitting

After Austin's baptism grandma and grandpa Gardner stayed and watched the kids while we went to the Bahama's.  The kids had a great time spending time with grandma and grandpa without mom and dad.  It was fun taking them to all their events.

Sunday they got to hear Jason get sustained as 2nd Counselor in the Bishopric.

Monday the kids skipped school and went bowling with grandma and grandpa. That night Olivia had a presentation about iPads in the schools in front of the School Board.

Tuesday Madi and Olivia sang the National Anthem with All City Choir at the Aberdeen Central Boys Basketball game.

Wednesday grandma tried to get stuff done but Maui wouldn't let her. Ate lunch with kids at school and grandpa flew home that afternoon

Thursday grandma was the Secret Reader for Austin's class.

Friday watched Savannah's basketball game and Madi and Olivia's basketball game

Saturday watched Austin's basketball game

Sunday went to church and said good-bye to grandma. :(

In between all that was violin, basketball practices, piano, Mutual, scouts and much more.
Jason and I were glad grandma was willing to take time off to come visit and babysit.

2nd Counselor in the Aberdeen Ward Bishopric

The day after Austin's baptism Jason was put in as the 2nd Counselor in our ward.  We weren't there for the sustaining because we had a trip planned long before he was called but mom and dad Gardner took the kids to church that day to hear him be put in.

The Stake called him Thursday night and he accepted the call.  We didn't tell anyone just in case someone said something at the baptism.  It was perfect timing though because Russ was here and could ordain him as a High Priest. We told Russ before leaving for the baptism but we didn't tell everyone else until after the baptism and all the ward members left.  We told the family before we leave that we needed to meet back in the RS room for a minute.  That is when we told everyone.  It was fun to have both our parents there for the baptism of our son and for Jason's ordination.

Austin's Baptism -January 20, 2018

Austin's turned 8 years old and chose to become a Member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints today, January 20, 2018.  It was a very special day. Austin was excited to finally get baptized and not be the only one.  We are very pleased with his decision to follow Jesus' example and be baptized.  Austin, you are a sweet, kind boy and we hope you always stay that way.  We love you!

Grandparents and Mia flew in for the special day and we had lots of friends and ward members there to share the day with him.

He was the only one in the ward baptized that day so he got to plan the program by himself.

Old Van, New Van

After many many miles and memories the KIA decided not to start one morning (January 11th).  We were already planning on buying a new van but we were hoping to make it through the winter and buy in the Spring.  The van had other plans, it was done.  We were lucky it happened when it did though because we were having family come into town for Austin's baptism, Jason and I were leaving on vacation, and grandma and grandpa were babysitting for a week.  I would have felt bad it my parents had to deal with all that.  We ended up buying a brand new black 2018 Honda Odyssey Elite (January 12th). It has all the updated technology and is very nice.

We will miss the old van because of all the memories that are attached to it but we will keep those good times and move on to more memories in the new van.

good bye January 16th
