Highlights from Jason's birthday

Highlights of the big day.

Hung the poster that the kids made so that when he went to work at 4:30am he would see it.

Put balloons around the house with messages so he knew he was loved.

When he got home at 6:00pm we went to dinner (Toyko steak and Susi bar) while the O'Rourkes watched our kids...Thank you Crishelle and Mike.

Sang and Opened presents that the kids picked out at the Dollar Store (since we had already gone to the Concert the week before.). He got bubble bath, squirt guns, candy, a kite and firework snakes.

Ate the "U" cake

He also got 35 reason why the kids love him and 35 reason why I love him.

We hope he enjoyed it because we had fun planning it.

Bon Jovi

Jason and I went to the Bon Jovi Concert last night here in Des Moines, for our birthday presents. We bought the tickets around my birthday and the concert was around Jason's birthday...that counts right?

We had a lot of fun! It was a good concert and we had fun singing along to all his old stuff...now I like his music even more.

Thanks sooooooo much to Andrea and Steve who watched our kids until until 11:30pm.

Mother's Day!

(Since I had no one to take our picture I had to put it on timer...I don't think it turned out too bad)

Happy Mother's Day!

I have decided that for me mother's day just makes me in a bad mood because I expect my kids to be perfect, let me sleep in, make their own food, etc, etc, etc...and of course that doesn't happen especially when your husband works all day. But I do have to say, after the day was over and I was reflecting on it, it really wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. Savannah got the kids breakfast and when I came downstairs I was welcomed with a big "HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!" and big hugs from my kids. Church went good, meaning I got to listen to most of Sacrament Meeting and Relief Society and only had to leave twice with Austin. My husband made it home in time to eat dinner with us and clean it up.

The reason that I really like mother's day is because it is a time for me to think of all the wonderful women in my life. I have wonderful grandmother's who where great examples to me and even though I wish they were still with us I am grateful for the things that I learned from them. I also have a wonderful mother-in-law who is like a mother to me. And of course my mom who has taught me so much and is a wonderful example to me. I feel so blessed to have her as my mom.

So HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY to all you wonderful women in my life who have taught me so much and helped me become a better mother. I LOVE YOU! and I wish you the perfect day!

another 1st

Savannah has wanted to loose one of her teeth for a long time, in her mind EVERYONE was loosing their teeth EXCEPT her...until last night.

It has been loose for a long time, at least a month and a half, but yesterday when she got home from school it was really loose and all night she wiggled it, and wiggled it, twisted it, and pulled on it and finally around 9:00pm she got it out all by herself. She was so proud when she did it herself. Jason was working so we sent him a picture and he called when he had a minute, she was so excited she couldn't stand it...we even had to call grandpas and grandmas.

The Tooth Fairy left her a sparkly note that, and one dollar and one quarter...just like Savannah thought she would. :)

I got it!

I love printing my blog book and getting it in the mail. I have done it since I started my blog three years ago. It's so fun to have a hard copy of the things we have done as a family. I have a personal journal but most of the stuff we do as a family I post on my blog and then make it into a book at the end of each year which serves as our family journal/scrapbook...since I don't scrapbook anymore.

Kindergarten Field Trip

Savannah's kindergarten class took a field trip yesterday to a farm. It was so cold and muddy that they had to wear boots and hats but they still had a great time. Our neighbor went with the kids and took some pictures for me. She had a great time and especially loved riding on a school bus.
