Ankeny SummerFest Parade and Fireworks

We walked over to the parade on Saturday.  Savannah and Madilynn were in it so it was just Austin, Olivia and I watching until the girls passed by and came to sit with us.

Someone said, "Why are there so many John Deere tractors in the Ankeny Parade?" ...it could be because there is a huge John Deere plant here in Ankeny. :)

Sunday night we had the Dunlavy's over to watch the fireworks in our backyard.

riding horses

The kids all got invited to Makenna Foster's birthday party (a little girl in between Madi and Olivia's age that lives two blocks away and goes to church with us.)  It was at a Ranch not far from where we live and they got to ride horse.  They had such a good time.

Ankeny Play All Day

We went to the Ankeny Play All Day in the park activities with our friends the Findley's.  They have different sports for the kids to try and my kids really like it.  This year we finally made it to the firefighters early so they got to spray a fire hose.  This year they also had wheelchairs for the kids to try and play basketball in, they just liked wheeling themselves around in them though. :)

4th of July activities

This 4th of July was a little different.  We went to the WDM parade on the 3rd (Thursday), Savannah got sick that night,  Jason stayed home with Savannah while the rest of us went to our Ward Breakfast on the 4th (Friday),  that night Savannah was feeling better and Austin didn't feel good so he went to bed and I stayed home with him while Jason took the girls to the Slater Fireworks, then Saturday Madi and Jason got sick.  They were still sick on Sunday so they stayed home from church. Finally Monday everyone (except mom) had been sick at least once the week before (Olivia and Austin both had it earlier in the week) and we got around to doing the sparklers that they had been waiting for.

Talons of Tuscany private golf course

When Jason got a phone call from Jared Straley in our ward and asked if wanted to join him, Jeff Foster, and Paul Gilmour to play golf at the Talons of Tuscany, he could not say no.  It's  a private golf course that a very wealthy man (Alba, who Jared happens to work for) built for himself and his family here in Ankeny.  Every time we would drive by Jason would wish he could play there and his wish came true.
He had one of the best times playing golf that day, on that beautiful golf course.
