swimming lessons

This year all three of the girls had swimming lessons at the same place and it was Olivia's first time without me in her class.  They all did a great job and get to move on to the next level next year.  Savannah is really starting to pick up the strokes and even learned a kneeling dive.  Madilynn did awesome, I couldn't believe how good she was doing the strokes, and without stopping.  Olivia improved a lot too, she would put her whole face under the water to get the rings which is huge for her.

update on Austin's leg

Monday we went to the Doctor again for another x-ray since he was still not walking.  The x-ray still didn't show anything but his doctor did say there was still swelling and we could see some tissue damage on the x-ray.
She referred us to an Orthopedic doctor for further evaluation since he wasn't walking on it yet and there was no explanation for it.  So we make the appointment for the next day.  And of course that night he started walking on it but had a limp.  Great now what do we do?
We decided to still take him just to be sure.  He woke up the next morning and did walk around but after awhile he would stop and say it hurt.
The Ortho looked at it, pushed around, saw him walk, looked at the x-ray, heard how it happened and decided that even though the x-ray is not showing it, it is broken (obviously a hairline fracture but a brake).  He did give him a anything for it since he is already walking on it but he just said to not let him jump and just to watch him not let him walk on it too much and to come back in two weeks.
So there you have it.  Nothing to extreme which is an answer to our prayers.

the evil slide

Last Tuesday I took the kids to a park (we are trying to go to all the parks in Ankeny this summer). We had been playing for about an hour when I decided to go down the slide with Austin and join in the fun.  Madi was going to race us but was already down before we were set to go.  So Austin and I started down and it was steep and we started going fast.  As we got closer to the bottom I realized we were going to go right off onto the ground so before we did,  I set Austin on the ground before I hit the ground so I wouldn't crush him.  As I set him to the side he started to cry, I thought I just scared him so I picked him up to comfort him but then he wouldn't stop crying after a half and hour of crying and holding his shin, I told the kids it was time to go.  There were no marks on his leg he just wouldn't stop crying and I started having flash backs of when Savannah broke her arm when she was 18 months.
We went home and I called the doctor to see if I could get it x-rayed,  they told me to come in an hour.  Meanwhile he wouldn't walk so I had to carry him everywhere and then set him down.  At one point he tried standing up but that didn't go well his just started screaming again.
When we got to the doctor, he looked at his legs, we had it x-rayed, he said it didn't look broken but he would call after the radiologist looked at it...he called later with the same results and just to give him 150mg of Ibuprofen for pain and swelling. So for the rest of the day we carried him everywhere and he would cry when ever it got bumped.
Wednesday he woke up really crying because it hurt so bad and at that point I thought it might be his ankle but he still held his shin.  When the doctor called to see how he was doing he sounded a little surprised that he wasn't walking so he told me to watch is hip and if he still wasn't walking in a week after the accident to come back for another x-ray.  We ruled out it wasn't his hip since he started walking on his knees later that day.  That was good because now he could move around on his own for the most part.

Now almost a week later he is still walking around on his knees and when his shin gets bumped he still starts to cry, so it looks like tomorrow we are going to the doctor again for another look.  Let's hope it's not broken since I really don't want to try and explain to a two year old why he can't play in the water in a cast all summer long.
(I feel bad for him but he looks cute walking around on his knees with is hurt leg up a little...he kind of looks like a midget, Jason's says that's not politically correct though so he looks like a "little person")

dance

For the past 3 days our life has been dance. Thursday was Dress Rehearsal it went from 3:00pm-9:00pm. We did get lucky and left for dinner and then got to leave early since our dances were done but by early I mean 8:30pm. Friday we had to be there at 5:00pm and got home around 9:30pm (we left right after Savannah's last dance too). Saturday we had to be there at Noon but I wanted the very very back row so the girls could see better and so we got there at 11:30am to wait in line. Let me tell you by the time she did her last dance I was so ready to be done and glad it only happens once a year. She did a great job though and she loves it, so it's worth it!

  The dads in Savannah's Ballet class  had got to dance with their daughters for part of the dance. 

It was really cute, the girls loved it and they got lots of cheers. 

(Jason did have to work the night shift on Friday so he could only go to Dress Rehearsal and Saturdays Recital but Mr Alex, the male dance teacher, danced with her on Friday so she didn't have to miss out)

Blank Park Zoo

Jason bought a groupon for the zoo so we could go as a family but surprise surprise guess who ended up taking them by herself.? Now in Jason's defense he really did want to go they just expired sooner than we thought and the zoo closes at 5 so it was nearly impossible for him to go.
We had a good time though and actually saw our old neighbors (the Miller's) and caught up with them. 
When Austin found out we were going to go see some animals he was so excited and exclaimed, "me scare the animals, Roarrrrrr!"  and that he did as soon as he saw the Lion and Tigers.
