Spring Break - Nauvoo, IL

We decided to take a family trip to Nauvoo, IL for Spring Break, since this is the last spring break we are going to get. We left Tuesday(March 18th) morning and got home tonight (Thursday, March 20th). We had a great time, it wasn't as fun for our girls because they couldn't run around and touch everything, but it turned out okay. Jason and I took turns going into the different house while Madilynn and Olivia slept and Savannah pick and choose which house she wanted to go into. When they were awake we took them in and for the most time they were okay. It was a great time to go because there was no one there and we were usually on the tour by ourselves, it made it a lot easier to ask questions and more personable. Jason and I went about 5 years ago but we both agree that it was a good thing to go back to see and be reminded about the sacrific of the early saints of the Church and we will go back again (when our kids get older or with a babysitter). It is a wonderful trip, if you are thinking of going you should go.

We also went to Carthage Jail (this is what most of our pictures and trip was like, a little caotic).

Savannah, her candel and rope. (She loved making the rope, it was probally her favorite part.)

Olivia's Blessing

We had a fun weekend. Both Jason and my parents came out to Olivia's baby blessing. It was so much fun to see them again especially for the kids, even though it is so hard to say bye.

We didn't do much but it was fun just to be together. Here are a few things we did; Costco, DSW, the mall, Easter Bunny, eating out, Easter Egg Hunt (outside in the cold), swimming, and best of all just being together.

Savannah, my dad, my mom, Olivia, Jason's mom, Madilynn, Jason's dad, Alli, and Jason

Thanks moms and dads for a wonderful weekend and for all your love and support. And like Savannah said after we dropped you off at the airport "I love my brama and branpas!" and we all agreed.

what we've been doing

Here in the zero below weather in the great state of Iowa there is not much you can do. But here are a few things we have been doing the last few months to keep ourselves sane.

We finally got a library card and have been a few times. My only problem is trying to keep Madi from pulling all the books off the shelf and not to yell while I am trying to stop her. So needless to say our trips are quick, even though the kids would love to stay longer, it is just the people there can't wait for us to leave.

In January we went to the Hall's house to play "Rock Band" and had a great time. I sucked at everything I tried to play (maybe it is the way I am holding the gutiar, I don't know what do you think)(I am a dork!). Jason did really good no matter what he was playing and he really liked to be the singer, so maybe if the whole doctor thing doesn't work out he can be a singer.

Savannah decided to take after her Uncle Jeff and play dog for the day and drink out of a dish on the floor. I thought is was funny because that is what my brother did all the time when I was growing up.

Savannah has mastered a new skill recently of putting elastics in hair and I think she does a really good job. We play "hair" all the time (I sits on the floor while Savannah combs, curls, blow dries, and put elastics and clips in my hair), poor Jason he never knows what my hair is going to look like when he comes home.

My baby just turned 3 months, time goes by so fast. She is now smiling all the time and has just started belly laughing. It is so cute and makes me laugh to hear her.

We also sing and dance a lot while the weather is freezing. It is lots of fun and it gets the girls moving (yes I dance to, my siblings know how good I am ;)).

Cooking is something else I have started to like doing more, I just don't like to clean up after. So last night we made these cookies that didn't make a mess and they are good for you (I think they are a Weight Watchers Recipe).

Pumpkin Spice Cookies
1 3/4 cups (15oz) Pumpkin
1 Spice Cake Mix
1 cup Chocolate Chips

Bake 375 degrees for 15 minutes

We hope everyone else is surviving the winter and pray Spring gets here soon.

a good laugh

My friend Erica posted this today but I thought it was hillarious (I would have laughed even if it was one of my kids) and had to post it too. I haven't laughed that hard in a long time.

Thanks Erica!
