Sunday, July 31st-Thursday August 4th we went on a Spjut/Jensen Family Vacation to Island Park, ID/Yellowstone. Grandpa and Grandma rented a big cabin for 5 days for the whole family. We drove to Billings, MT on Saturday did some shopping then drove the rest of the way Sunday. We went to Yellowstone Monday, Tuesday rode the 4-wheelers and went fishing, Wednesday Jason and Shawn went golfing and then later we all went into West Yellowstone, ate lunch and did some souvenir shopping. Thursday we packed up and headed home.
We didn't get to see all we wanted to see in Yellowstone so on our way back home we took the kids back into the park and went and saw the things we missed. We stopped again in Billings to spend the night then made the rest of the drive home of Friday.
It was fun to spend time with family and see beautiful Yellowstone.
driving through North Dakota we saw all these beautiful fields of sunflowers!!! It added a little splash of color to our drive.
BUFFALO!!!!
Something cool. On the way home we were telling the kids about the Yellowstone fire and when it happened. I went to Yellowstone once as a child but couldn't remember if I was 10 or younger. If I was 10 we would have been there right before the fire. I texted my mom to see what year we were there. She texted back that I was 8 years old , so we were there 2 years before the fire, but here comes the cool thing. The picture my mom has of us in the Old Faithful Inn was dated August 4, 1986. The date this picture above was taken was August 4, 2016. 30 Years to the date I was in Yellowstone watching Old Faithful.
