Utah-Week 1 July 14th -July 20th

On Sunday July 14, 2013 at 5:00am the kids and I left for Utah for our summer vacation.  The drive really wasn't that bad and we got to Utah around 8:30pm, making it a 16 1/2 hour drive, not bad with two unexpected stops.  We stopped at Jason's parents house first to see them.  Shawn and Jen live their right now so we saw them and Kierstin came over and brought her kids so we could see them.

July 15th we went over to my brother Brandon's house to see their kids since they are on year round school and we wouldn't have a whole lot of time with them.  They got out the blow up water slide and kids had a blast!

We also meet my nephew, Jace, for the 1st time.  He is such a fun happy baby.

Later that night grandpa and grandma Jensen took us for hamburgers and to the splash park by their house,  Jen, Cole and Kailer joined us.

July 16th my mom took me and my kids, Kristie and her kids to the Leonardo Museum in Salt Lake to see the 101 inventions that changed the world.  It was really quite fascinating.  Then they had other fun activities for the kids to do.  (They made movies, did the weather, painted on a computer program. made a clock and cars out of cardboard and few other objects, played with clay, and lot more.)

Then since we were in Salt Lake we went and saw my grandpa LeCheminant and Brenda.

Then we went to Temple Square and walked around a little bit.  The kids got scared though because the wind started to blow, the sky got dark, twigs and branches started to fall from the trees and they wanted to go home because they thought there was going to be a tornado. (They had a few traumatic situations the last few month that got them scared, so I explained that there has only been 1 tornado in Utah in the last 80 years and that Utah doesn't get tornadoes like Iowa.)

July 17th I went to the Bountiful Temple, while my mom watched the kids and took them on a walk to see the animals behind Lagoon and to her library.  They were really tired and all they really wanted to do was stay at grandpa and grandma's and play with their toys, and ride bikes, so that's what we did just hung out all day.  Until that night my parents primary had a kiddie parade so Brandon and Kristie brought their kids and Katie brought hers and we them go to primary party to decorate their bikes and ride around the block a couple times.

July 18th we headed over the grandma Jensen's house to spend time with her.  She took the kids school shopping, we went to lunch and then went back to her house to play on the slip-n-slide and hang out.  Grandma Green had already moved boxes into the mother-in-law apartment so Kathy and I went and unpacked most of the boxes so that on Saturday when she brought the rest of her stuff it would be easier for her.

July 19th grandma Jensen took us, Jen and her kids the Thanksgiving point dinosaur Museum.  They really liked it and couldn't wait til the end so they could dig for dinosaur bones.

Then on our drive home we stopped and Scheel's to ride the Farris Wheel.  A little scary for ALL of us but a 1st for my kids so it was fun.

July 20th Jason's parents were moving grandma in so they were busy and my mom and dad had my great aunt funeral to go to so we stayed home in the morning, then met my parents at the movie theater to see "The Croods", really cute movie.  My kids were so excited to their "own popcorn!"  Usually we by a large and bring cups for the kids but they thought it was great they got their own bag. :)  Aren't grandparents great!

Then later that day my mom took Olivia school shopping for Kindergarten and Katie and Spencer came over with their kids for dinner and Grandpa and Lois stopped by to visit.

Wow what a week! and only 2 1/2 more to go.  :)

Summer Fun

July 10th Austin sweet nursery leader invited us over for some slip-n-slide fun.

and later that night we went to the Ankeny Play All Day, where they have free activities for kids

July 11th we went to the aquatic center with friends before we leave for Utah.

Today July 13th we went the Ankeny Summerfest parade.  Savannah walked in the parade again with her dance, Madi choose to watch with her friend and get candy instead.  It was such a nice day for a parade especially compared to last year.

.  It's been a great summer so far the kids really haven't complained much about being bored which makes it more fun for me.  And tomorrow the kids and I leave for Utah early in the morning...Jason will fly out later and drive home with us.  So there is more fun on the way!

4th of July Festivities

On the 3rd we tried to go to the Cubs baseball game (since that was Jason's holiday off) but we didn't know it was the only game of the year that general admission meant a couple bleachers and standing room so we left.  We were with some friend so we went back to their house to make a fire, make smores, catch some fireflies and do some sparklers.  We stayed there until 11:30pm, late for the kids but fun.  Thanks Dunlavy's!

On the 4th I took the kids to the Annual Ward Breakfast at the park.  We came home for lunch with Jason before he had to go back to sleep so he could work that night.  Then I took the kids to the Waukee Parade, hung out at the mall, drove by our old house and then went to park, listened to the live music and played on the big toy until the fireworks started at 9:30pm.  It was fun just to hang out all day and spend time outside relaxing.

Ward Breakfast...Savannah was playing kickball
