Today was the 1st day of school!! Not only did Savannah start middle school, Madi, Olivia and Austin got to start a new school too. Jason is still out of town but he gave them all Father's blessing the week before which I think helped them to get even more excited and will help them throughout the school year.
Savannah (6th grade) was very excited to start middle school. Last night we went and got her schedule, took all her supplies, decorated her locker, practiced opening her locker and walked around to find her classes. She could hardly wait for today...I think her favorite part so far is that she gets to chew gum and wear make-up (just mascara and lip gloss).
Madi (4th grade), Olivia (3rd grade) and Austin (1st grade) started at the brand new elementary in town, Mike Miller. We went last night to see their classrooms, officially meet their teachers, and take all their supplies. They were all very excited to go back to learn and meet new friends this morning.
Since the school was new, the newspaper photographer was there taking pictures of the kids coming into the school. I got out of the car with the kids so I could take pictures of them in front of school and photographer came over and started taking pictures of what I though was just my kids. He said, "don't mind me", as he took pictures over my shoulder. After he asked my name, and told me it was just in case he had questions. Then asked the kids names and their ages just in case he put them in the paper. Well surprise surprise we were all in the newspaper. About an hour later someone in the ward texted Jason and I and sent a picture of us in the paper.
Even though it was a short day they all had a great time. They all came home and said how fun it was and that they are excited to go tomorrow. Here's to a new school year!!
